believe

teacher won't you teach me well, increase my knowledge

but the wise man he must die and fade away

already here that long ago, he was here before my time

help me climb this golden ladder

each step that's taken is sweeter than the last then it fades away

the higher up the more i fall when the sun goes finally down

i wanna believe in something

i wanna believe

place my lips upon this wine and satisfaction

will dance inside my head then fade away

and yestereve will have her fun in the eyes of early morn

climb inside this world of pleasure

unfurl my flower, your fragrance travels far then fades away

wrap your arms around my arms but then you too must let me go

i wanna believe in something...

what does man gain from all his toils and labor

the sun will rise up high and fade away

generations come and generations they will go

look into this well of mine, i'm always thirsty

the water cools my throat then fades away

the rivers flow into this sea yet this sea is never full

i wanna believe in something...

more

you came into my life, carried me from darkness to the light

but you know i want more

your love surrounded me from the inside out and set me free

but you know i want more

right now your spirit's waking deep inside my soul

but one day the skies will open and the mystery unfold

and i don't know if i can wait until the day you come back

i feel you in my spirit but you know that i want more

sometimes my heart runs cold but you cover me, won't let me go

and you know i want more

our love grows closer still in the quiet of my spirit filled

but you know i want more

right now your fire is burning deep inside my soul

but one day the skies will open and the mystery unfold

and i don't know if i can wait...

your spirit moving in me is the reason that i know

that one day the skies will open and the mystery unfold

and i don't know if i can wait...

raisin' cane

i don't care what we've done, from where we came

the lord he loves us anyway, he's raisin' cane

out there in the field we go where abel was slain

but lord he loves us anyway, he's raisin' cane

sin comes knockin' at our door, we open wide with shame

but lord he loves us anyway, he's raisin' cane

out there in the field we go...

the lord he bleeds our brother's blood, crying out in pain

but lord he loves us anyway,he's raisin' cane

out there in the field we go...

hope to find

i hope to find love in the world like that he gave to me

from life unto death but in his last breath

love in the world

i hope to find joy in the world like that he brings to me

like water to wine his spirit will shine

joy in the world

i hope to find peace in the world like that he brings to me

from hatred and war to all he stands for

peace in the world

i hope to find love in the world like that he gives to me

father and son and spirit are one

love in the world

eleven horses

running the field without bridle, feeling free

grass under hoof, bound only by the sea

then came the call, a voice like no one before him

a melody sweet and they ran to him

and we can only wonder, calling home eleven horses

that he will ride unto the ends of the earth

we can only wonder, calling home eleven horses

maybe one day i'll ride with them

their master he shared a purpose for each step taken

he taught them to walk in ways they had never known

they wanted to run, sometimes they'd try to jump the fences

and gently he'd say it is not your time

and we can only wonder...

one day he was gone, their master was taken from them

they huddled in fear, then they saw him at the fences

his hand on the gate, they knew and their hearts went leaping

he opened the door and they ran through him

and we can only wonder...

carry me heaven

moving across the bay, the breath of God

again filling her mainsails with the color of the wind

carry me heaven, carry me to paradise

skimming the wavetops tall, the motion sets me free

watching the clouds roll by, a floating symphony

carry me heaven...

spreading her sails full chat like seagulls dancing the air

carries me heavenward reminding me who's there

carry me heaven...

the door

the wind was blowing, stirring up the flame

you waltzed right in my room just like a wildfire

and called my name

you sent me flying in your own special way

your spirit moving through me, i could hear you talk

i heard you say

here i am, i stand at the door and i knock

if you hear me call and open the door

i'll come in and sit down and eat with you

and you with me

my eyes were shining along with my face

i trembled not with fear, i was overwhelmed

with all your grace

and i was ready, my spirit was dead

the master sitting there right next to me

this is what he said

here i am...

steal my heart away

look at you, you're like a doe in the forest

caressing me with all your gentle ways

so softly, you raise your eyes inviting me

yet as i run to you, you steal away

look at you, you're like a bird on the wings of time

and just outside my reach you seem to stay

but then you circle, landing on my window sill

and with your song my heart you steal away

yeah my lady, steal my heart away

so precious, you're like the gold wrapped around me

reminding me so well that faithful day

when we were two, then we became as one

and with each vow my heart you stole away

i keep chasing after the sun that shines

in behind your eyes, the light of day

and i keep hoping each moment that you'll turn to me

and with one look, my heart you'll steal away

yeah my lady, steal my heart away

steal away

like a carefree butterfly, like the wind that's rushing by

you steal my heart away

like a newborn baby's cry, like a bedtime lullaby

you steal my heart away

like the stars up in the sky, like the one who had to die

you steal my heart away

for the one

walking down the streets the buildings start to crumble

the colors run together bleeding

i close my eyes and try to reconstruct a temple

each layer of my mind competing

hey, here we go again walking 'round and 'round

and 'round this heart of mine

looking for the one, the one who's gonna save me

i'm always in a hurry though i'm going nowhere

i'm feeling lost for all my labor

confusion in my mind it drives the nails in deeper

i'm feeling desperate for a savior

hey, here we go again...

lord, won't you send this man light

'cause he's living in the dark

and he doesn't quite know

where to go from here

and i want love

what is love?

flowing from the tongues of angels

a clanging sound without love

but if i have faith, i can sing of sweet salvation

but i'm nothing without love, i am nothing

now these three remain, faith, hope and love

and i want love

what is love?

flowing like the sailing sea

a broken vessel without love

but if i have hope, an anchor for my inner soul

but i'm nothing without love, i am nothing

now these three remain...

why should he die for me?

darkness becoming light, the sun is the morning bright

moon and the stars at night, all that he ever would need

then came the oceans wide, climbing the mountains high

reaching for deep blue skies, all that he ever would need

why should he die for me?

the wind blowing patiently, whispering through the trees

flowers are wild and free, all that he ever would need

lion is jungle king, whales in the water sing

birds proudly spread their wings, all that he ever would need

why should he die for me?

creator did not need man, he chose to complete his plan

by making us with his hands but we turned our backs on his love

with tears in our father's eyes, he sent us his son who died

so we could live by his side, all that we ever will need

that's why he died for me and you

he's alive

when they nailed him to the cross, it appeared that he had lost all he came here for

when they laid him in the tomb it was fair to assume that we would see him no more

on friday our king crucified, on sunday the stone rolled, our savior, he's alive

well they mocked him to the end, they even pretended he was king of the jews

when he drew his last breath, the shadow of his death was yesterday's news

on friday our king crucified, on sunday the stone rolled, our savior, he's alive

yeah, they tried to keep him off his throne, hired a guard and they sealed the stone

no, they can't keep him off his throne, he raised up walking, he rolled the stone

he's alive

holdin' on

holdin' on, holdin' on

i see my life a road on which i travel

holdin' on

running scared, pushed into the battle

at seventeen my head was high, the pride in me was raging

nothing in this world could take me down

but in behind this bold facade, my spirit was engaging

a melody of fear, a dreary sound

holdin' on...

at twenty three a soldier down, wounded in the fighting

my legs no longer straight now they are round

deep inside the anger rose and i went into hiding

i built these walls so well, could not be found

holdin' on...

at thirty one i'm finally free, this prisoned bird is flying

my wayward feet are guided by the son

it's truly sweet, the will of God, for living i am dying

together we will stand, we'll go as one

holdin' on...

still my soul

when the wind is high

when the waves in my face are all i can see

and i'm wondering why

why the grief and the pain seem to follow me

forever reminded the way you work is a mystery

when the rains they come

when my soul is the lowest and darkest cloud

i know where to run

into the arms of the one who can calm me down

forever reminded you're the peace that's inside of me

still my soul, won't you still my soul

while the storm rages on

walking on the water, you stepped into my boat

now the fear is gone

riding the storm out, she is steady afloat

forever reminded the wind and the waves, they bow down to you

still my soul...
