The third album from One Tree Hill was released on December 15, 1996. The record, self-titled One Tree Hill, is the first to feature the full OTH band. The acoustic-based album, which was produced by Patrick Lloyd, was mostly recorded in Ed & Lu's basement from May-September, 1996. For you technoids, we used the OTH studio gear which consists of two DA-88s linked together (16 tracks), a Mackie 24-8 console, and a TL Audio tube mic-pre/compressor. For mics, we used an AKG-414, AKG-460 and 2 AKG-C1000s. For tracking, we ran the mics through the TL Audio, then directly to tape. I did rent a Neumann UM67 tube mic for the vocals, which we cut at Westwind Studios. Sonny Lallerstedt mixed the project on a Mackie 32-8, using Lexicons PCM-90, LXP-15, and LXP-1 for effects. Glen Matullo mastered the project pushing it through some Neve gear (EQ and tube compressors), then mapping the particulars on Pro-tools software. |
